After the release of his last studio pop/rock album, River of Dreams in 1993, Billy went on an extensive world wide tour which concluded in Europe in 1994. Six songs from the tour were released on a short CD album which was included in a special Australian boxed set A Voyage On The River of Dreams (1994). The six songs on the CD are: Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, No Man's Land, The Ballad Of Billy The Kid, Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel), The River Of Dreams, and The Beatles' A Hard Days Night. The box set also contained The River of Dreams studio album and a CD entitled "An Evening of Questions and Answers . . . & Perhaps A Few Songs" containing excerpts from a Master Class Billy gave at Princeton University.
Billy and the band's next-t0-last concert of the River of Dreams tour was at Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany on June 18, 1994. The concert was broadcast on television and by The Disney Channel in the United States. Billy and his band give a good performance, but sound a bit tired, no doubt because they were near the end of a long and exhaustive tour. In addition, it was extremely warm that evening and in the concert video you can see Billy and the band members sweating profusely toward the end of the concert. Nonetheless, Billy does a rousing version of The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night," a nod to The Beatles' early success in German clubs in the early 1960s. A video of the concert was also released on DVD, however, the official release of the DVD was not until 2005 when it was included in the boxed set My Lives. The DVD is now available as a stand-alone DVD. While the actual concert consisted of 22 songs, the DVD concert had just fourteen songs. |
